I predict a riot

In March 2020, Darin Barney travelled to the University of Glasgow to give a talk on infrastructure, take part in seminars in the School of Critical Studies, and collaborate with Grierson member and Glasgow faculty member Dr. Rhys Williams. His time there corresponded with a strike action by the University College Union, the Educational Institute of Scotland and the University Lecturers Association over pay, working conditions and pensions. This meant picket-duty (including dancing with Williams and his colleague, Dr. Briony Wickes, to “I Predict a Riot!” by Kaiser Chiefs) and a surprise workshop on sabotage and precarious academic labour.
